Following the tree planting Beverly and her family joined with the other FLA
members at their quarterly meeting. Beverly Oakes introduced the Oakes
family members, including Gene’s brothers Bowden
and Avery and daughter in law, Michelle. The brothers told stories of growing up
with Gene and what he meant to them and their family. Michelle read a touching
letter on behalf of her husband, Robert. The Oakes family thanked everyone
involved in the tree planting ceremony at the St. Augustine Lighthouse.
